About me
I’ve been a storyteller since I began writing poetry in the 4th grade.
I was an “Army brat” growing up, and as an adult I have continued my love of exploring new places and learning new things to feed my stories. To that end, I’ve visited 20 countries, lived in 2 (the U.S. and Germany), visited 30 U.S. states and territories, and lived in D.C. and 7 states.
I’m a daughter and big sister and wife and cat mom and best friends with five women I first met in my freshman year of college. I’m also a perfectionist Capricorn who loves home renovation shows, gardening, sunrises, power walks, laughing, bacon, tater tots, and ultimate frisbee.
In December 2021 I turned 50, and since then I’m committed to enjoying Life, Part II.
In addition to being an author, I run a storytelling consultancy focusing on social impact brands as well as businesses led by women and/or people of color.

My Fiction
I’ve tried many different forms of writing over the years, but discovered my true passion is writing short stories.
I’m constantly working on new tales to share, so be sure to check out what I’ve done to date.
My Nonfiction
Some say truth is stranger than fiction. I don’t think that’s always the case, but I do believe truth can tell some pretty good tales.
That’s why my storytelling scope includes articles, opinion pieces, and much more.
Sample Stories
Most of my fiction appears in anthologies or magazines, making it tough to do a “trial” read. So I’ve gathered a few different story types to share with you here.

Horror story “Aunt Sadie’s Surprise”

Science fiction story
“At the Intersection of Light and Sound”

Fiction story “In a Fog”

Mystery story “Martyrs to a Cause”
Fiction
My first stories were published in 2004. Fast-forward to April 2018, when HellBound Books published my first horror & dark fiction collection, consisting of four previously published stories and nine new tales. In April 2022 I self-published a collection of 12 linked horror & dark fiction stories about Hamburg, Germany and I’m currently working on my third story collection.
